TOUGH NEW PENALTIES FOR
ILLEGAL MOBILE PHONE USE WHILST DRIVING
Motorists face new penalties for breaking the law by using a hand-held mobile
phone while driving from February 27th 2007.
From this date, the fixed penalty will for the first time include the award of
three penalty points on driving licences as well as doubling the fine to £60. In addition,
employers face prosecution if they cause or permit their employees to take or make phone calls
or text messages whilst driving.
In 2004 nearly 74,000 fixed penalty notices were issued for illegal use of a
mobile phone while driving.
At Castle Vehicle Leasing, we are committed to ensuring that our customers are
kept informed of any changes that may affect your drivers in company vehicles.
If you have not introduced a policy covering the use of mobile phones whilst on
company business, please contact us as we are able to offer legal, hands-free telephone solutions.
Please note that once this information becomes more widely publicised it is
likely that mobile phone installations will be extremely booked up, so don't get caught out.
Since hearing the news Castle Vehicle Leasing have put in place a priority
installation scheme for our subscribers.
